Stuart McCall
Born 10th June 1964, Leeds. Bradford City’s midfield dynamo and now Player Coach at Valley Parade.
McCall began his career at his current club, before making it big at Everton and Glasgow Rangers. A Scottish international despite an accent as Yorkshire as flat caps and Geoff Boycott. Joined Sheffield United in July 2002.

Steve McClaren
Born 3rd May 1961, Fulford. Journeyman player who plied his trade for Hull, Derby, Lincoln, Bristol City and Oxford. But as a coach, Steve has made his mark on the English game. Spent 4 years as Head Coach at Derby County before replacing Brian Kidd at Old Trafford in February 1999. Has recently been brought into the England coaching team - he and Peter Taylor took charge of the Italy friendly in Turin, November 2000. Tipped by many to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson as manager of Manchester United.

Alex McLeish
Born 21 January 1959 Glasgow.
Began his career at Aberdeen where he was an integral part of Alex Ferguson’s all-conquering team that broke the Old Firm grip on Scottish football. Won three SPL winner’s medals, four Scottish FA cups and was in the 1983 European Cup Winners Cup team that defeated Real Madrid in the final.
Won 77 Scottish caps, playing in three World Cups. Appointed player/manager of Motherwell in 1994, moving to Hibs in 1998. Named manager of Glasgow Rangers in 2001, appointed Scotland team manager in 2007.

Chris Makin Born 8th May 1973 Manchester. Right full-back currently with Ipswich Town, having been signed from Sunderland in March 2001 for £1.25 million. Began his career at Oldham before trying his luck overseas with Marseille. |

Kerry Mayo
Born 21st September 1977, Cuckfield. Not only is he the only footballer in the World whose name contains two Irish counties, Kerry sports perhaps the neatest haircut outside the Premiership.

Born 20th June 1960, Manchester. Son of ex-pro Don Megson, Gary was a no-nonsense midfielder for Plymouth, Everton and Sheffield Wednesday amongst others.
Has sat in the hotseat at Norwich, Blackpool, West Bromwich Albion, Nottingham Forest and Stockport.

David Moyes
Born 25th April 1963, Glasgow. Began his career with local club Celtic as a central defender, but unable to win a regular place.
Played for Bristol City, Cambridge and Shrewsbury before arriving at Preston North End. Became manager at Deepdale, taking the club to the brink of the Premiership.

Richard Naylor
Born 28th February 1977, Leeds. Ipswich Town's all action forward is a product of the Portman Road's youth scheme. Now a regular in the Premiership and has tasted European football in the UEFA Cup.

Iwan Roberts Born 26th June 1968, Bangor. Big boned striker who hails from the valleys. Began his career at Watford in the 1980s and has put the fear of God into defences whilst playing for Huddersfield, Leicester, Wolves and Norwich.

Born 9th May 1967 Dresden. Talented "libero" who made 23 appearances for East Germany before going to win another 39 caps for a united Germany. Played for Dresden, Stuttgart, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund. Known as "Red Hothead", Sammer was the badboy of German football before being appointed coach of Borussia Dortmund. |

Carlo Sartori
Born 10th February 1948, Italy. Italian Redheads are not exactly a dime a dozen - so hats off to Manchester United’s Carlo, who made 26 appearances for The Red Devils between 1968 and 1971. Now a professional knife-sharpener in Rochdale. But you probably knew that already.

Born 16th November 1974, Salford. Golden headed Fergie-Fledgling who could be the saviour of the English game. No England side is complete without a Red 'Un.

Steve Sidwell
Born 14th December 1982, Wandsworth. Signed for Arsenal as a boy, but was unable to force his way into the Highbury first team. Had loan spells with Brighton and Brentford before joining Reading in the summer of 2003.
An England Under-20 International, Sidwell has settled well at The Madjeski Stadium regularly scoring vital goals. |

Born 20th June 1960. Fiery, some say psychopathic, striker best known for his partnership with Kerry Dixon at Chelsea in the 1980s. Scottish International who also played for (deep breath) Darlington, Coventry, Liverpool, Leicester, Southampton, Blackburn and West Ham.

Born 26th February 1981, Edinburgh. Redheaded youngster who has made the grade at Old Trafford, and is ready to break into the Manchester United first team.
Michael is a tough-tackling midfielder who has already come to the attention of Scotland Bertie Vogts and the possibility of a call-up to the full Scottish squad is a real possibility.

Michael Svensson
Born 25th November 1975. Swedish defender who signed for Premier League Southampton in June 2002 via Halmstads and Troyes, the fee being a cool £2 million. Early Southampton appearances were littered with 6 cautions in 16 games including a red card. However, his disciplinary record improved rapidly, and Michael went on to crown his first season in UK football with an FA Cup Final appearance, albeit on the losing side.

Igli Tare
Born 25th July 1973. Vlora, Albania. Big, strong centre forward banging in the goals for Brescia in Serie A. Almost made it to the English game when Watford attempted to sign him in summer 2001. A regular in the Albania national team, he gave the English defence food for thought in both 2002 World Cup qualifying ties.

Eric Tinkler
Born 1st January 1971, South Africa. Eric is the fulcrum of Barnsley’s midfield, his Redhair supplying the energy for him to cover every blade of the Oakwell pitch. A South African international, Eric was signed from Italian club Cagliari.

Gary Waddock
Republic of Ireland player who recovered from career-threatening injury to be involved in Eire's magnificent Italia 90 squad - only to be sent home by Jack Charlton prior to the tournament. Waddock also served with distinction at club level - notably QPR, where he features in all-time favourite players' polls and now coaches having managed for a spell.

Born 23rd May 1956, Glasgow. Sported a big curly red perm in the best traditions of a 70s footballer. Played for Dumbarton and Coventry before Brian Clough splashed out and took him to Notts Forest. Not one of old Big ‘Eads best bit of business. Wallace won 3 caps for Scotland.

Darren Ward
Born 13th September 1978, Harrow. Harrow-born Watford no-nonsense centre-half and all round good chap.
Broke his leg early on his career, then endured a loan spell at QPR before returning to Vicarage Road to rough up rival centre forwards, and cultivate a post-modernist TinTin hair and beard style before joining Millwall in the 2001/2002 season. Nice one.

Born 1st April 1974, North Shields. Defender who began his career with his local club Newcastle United. Surprisingly transferred to Aston Villa, but Steve didn’t settle in Birmingham and he moved to Everton in July 2000 for £2.5 million. |

Willie Young Born 25th November 1951, Edinburgh. Strapping centre-back who played for Spurs, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Norwich among others. Best remembered for his cynical foul on a young Paul Allen during the 1980 FA Cup final between Arsenal and West Ham.
