Sarah Bernhardt

The most famous actress of her generation, Sarah was born in Paris in the 1880s. A beautiful voice and a fabulous head of the frizziest red hair of the Victorian era made “The Divine Sarah” the first ever superstar.   Red and Proud salute the first lady of The Reds.

Kari Byron

Born December 18, 1974. Kari is a San Francisco-based artist. She graduated from Los Gatos High School and
studied film and sculpture at San Francisco State University.

Kari is best known for her appearances on the Discovery Channel show MythBusters, where she assists Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman with projects about the myths they bust, as well as doing myths with fellow build team members Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara. She has also made guest appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman and Beyond Tomorrow, and appeared in a four-page spread in the June 2006 United States edition of FHM.

Vincent van Gogh

30 March 1853 - 27 July 1890. Born in Zunbert, South Netherlands. Worked as an apprentice for Goupil & Cie, international art dealers at their Paris, the Hague and London offices.
After being dismissed became a preacher, but was sacked for being too impassioned.

In 1881 took the decision to become an artist. Experimented with various styles, his first work of note being "The Potato Eaters" painted in 1885.
Embraced Impressionism during a stay in Paris during 1886. Moved to Provence two years later, making his home at the infamous "Yellow House".
Invited Paul Gauguin to stay with him, both artists at their creative peaks. The partnership broke up amid acrimony, the result being Vincent attempting to sever his ear with a razor.

From then on, Van Gogh plunged headlong into mental illness. The end coming in the summer of 1890 after Vincent wandered off into a cornfield and shot himself in the chest.
He took two days to die. Buried in Auvers.
 
Vincent was able to sell just one painting during his life. Now they sell for hundreds of pounds.

Red Grooms

Born Nashville 1937. New York based Pop-Artist who specialises in 'sculpto-pictoramas' (organised ‘Happenings’ in the 1960s) and is now involved in environmental works.
Some of his best-known pieces are ‘Ruckus Manhattan’, ‘The City of Chicago’, and ‘Tut’s Fever’.

Kelly Hoppen

So, who does one call for when one wants their house designed in a contemporary, rub-a-dub style? Why it has to be Top Redhead designer Kelly Hoppen.

Kelly, known as the 'Madonna of decor' has no professional training but has built up an list of leading celebrities from all over the world.

Kelly runs her own shop on London's trendy Fulham Road and also heads the Kelly Hoppen Design School in nearby Kensington.

She has written several best-selling design books and re-designed the first-class cabins in British Airways' fleet of jets. She is said to be worth £30m.
