Henri Matisse
31st December 1869 – 3rd November 1954. Born Picardy, France. Regarded as one of the most important French painters of the 20th Century, Matisse was the leader of the Fauvist movement. He pursued the expressiveness of colour throughout his career. His subjects were largely domestic or figurative and a distinct Mediterranean verve presides in the treatment. “Instinct must be thwarted just as one prunes the branches of a tree so it will grow better”.
John Nolan
Born Dublin 1958. Irish artist whose original, vibrant style has made him one of the most exciting painters of his generation.
His distinctive use of colour in his landscapes and still life works has made him a huge favourite with all at Red and Proud.

Dame Ellen Terry
1848-1928. Shakespearean actress, whose greatest success was her role as Beatrice in Henry Irving’s 1882 production of 'Much Ado About Nothing'.
A great friend of fellow Red George Bernard Shaw, she published her autobiography 'Story of My Life' in 1908.

Born Tiziano Vecellio, this artistic Red was The Leading Painter of the Venetian School.

Born Los Angeles. “Interdisciplined” artist who now operates from New York. Has shown her work in Chicago, Toronto and Russia. Some of her recent projects include “Women I Have Known” and “Burning Man”.

Born Bromley, England. The Royal Ballet's Edward Watson says he stuck at ballet lessons 'because I was a bit rubbish at everything else'.
Having worked his way through the ranks at the Royal Ballet since 1994, Edward was promoted to Principal status in 200. His huge repertory is the envy of many a principal dancer.
